Punctual Privacy Policy
The privacy policy for Punctual, the free macOS menu-bar meeting app. It runs on your Mac, sends Chykalophia nothing, and reads Google Calendar read-only.
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Effective date: October 1, 2026
Punctual is a free, open-source macOS app from Chykalophia Group, LLC ("Chykalophia", "we"). It shows your next meeting in the menu bar and gets you into it in one click.
The short version: Punctual runs on your Mac and sends us nothing. We have no server for it, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. Your calendar stays between your Mac and the calendar services you already use.
This policy explains exactly what the app touches, where it goes, and how to remove it.
What we collect
Nothing. Chykalophia does not receive, store, or have access to any information from Punctual, including your calendar data, your Google account, or how you use the app. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting and no analytics of any kind in the app.
What the app uses on your Mac
Punctual needs some of your data to do its job. All of it is handled on your Mac:
- Calendars from the macOS Calendar app. With your permission, Punctual reads events from the calendars you choose, to show them in the menu bar and agenda. If you create or edit an event in Punctual's event editor, it saves that change to the macOS Calendar app on your Mac, which syncs it through your calendar account under your own settings.
- Reminders. If you turn this on and grant permission, Punctual shows reminders due today. It changes a reminder only when you check it off or snooze it.
- Camera and microphone. If you use the optional pre-meeting check, Punctual shows a live camera preview and a microphone level meter. Nothing is recorded, saved, or sent anywhere.
- Notifications. Meeting reminders are ordinary notifications scheduled on your Mac.
- Settings. Your preferences are stored on your Mac inside the app's own sandboxed storage. To remember meetings you dismissed, it keeps only an event identifier and two timestamps, not the meeting's title or contents.
Google Calendar
Connecting Google Calendar directly is optional. You can also use Punctual with Google calendars you have already added to the macOS Calendar app, in which case Punctual never talks to Google at all.
If you do connect Google Calendar in Punctual:
What Punctual accesses. Punctual asks Google for read-only access:
| Permission | Why Punctual needs it |
|---|---|
See your calendar list (calendar.calendarlist.readonly) | So you can choose which calendars appear |
See your calendar events (calendar.events.readonly) | To show those meetings, their times and their join links |
See your email address (email) | To show which Google account is connected |
Punctual cannot create, change, or delete anything in your Google Calendar.
How it is used. Only to show your meetings and help you join them, inside the app, on your Mac.
Where it goes. Your Google data travels directly between your Mac and Google. It never passes through Chykalophia, and we never see it.
How it is stored. Your Google sign-in tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. Your calendar data is kept on your Mac to display it and is not uploaded anywhere.
Sharing. We do not sell, share, or transfer Google user data to anyone. It is not used for advertising, and it is not used to develop, improve, or train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
Limited Use. Punctual's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access. Disconnect Google in Punctual's Preferences: this revokes Punctual's access with Google and deletes the tokens from your Mac. You can also remove Punctual's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Using your own Google credentials. Punctual lets you connect through your own Google Cloud OAuth client instead of ours. The same rules apply: the data still goes only between your Mac and Google.
Services Punctual talks to
Punctual connects to other services only when you use a feature that needs them:
- Google, if you connect Google Calendar directly, as described above.
- Apple Maps, only if you turn on location suggestions (off by default). The text you type in an event's Location field is sent to Apple to suggest places. Apple's privacy policy applies to that request.
- Your meeting apps. When you join a meeting, Punctual opens the link in your browser or in the meeting's app (for example Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet). Those services' own privacy policies apply from there.
During Google sign-in, Punctual briefly listens on your own Mac (127.0.0.1) to receive
Google's response, then stops. Punctual has no auto-updater and does not check in with any
server.
Diagnostics
If you click "copy diagnostics", Punctual copies a short text report to your clipboard so you can paste it into a bug report. It contains app and macOS versions, connection status, counts of calendars and events, refresh times, the last error message, and permission states. It contains no event titles, attendees, notes, or other calendar contents. Nothing is sent unless you choose to paste it somewhere.
Your choices and deleting your data
Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete. Everything Punctual keeps is on your Mac, and you control it:
- Turn any permission off in macOS System Settings, under Privacy & Security.
- Disconnect Google in Punctual's Preferences, or at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Delete Punctual from your Applications folder. To remove its settings too, delete its
data in
~/Library/Containers/com.chykalophia.Punctual, and remove any Keychain items starting with "Punctual" in the Keychain Access app.
Security
Punctual is sandboxed by macOS, signed with Chykalophia's Apple Developer ID, and notarized by Apple. Its source code is public at github.com/Chykalophia/Punctual, so anyone can check what it does.
Children
Punctual is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If Punctual's handling of data changes, we will update this page and its effective date before releasing that version. The history of this policy is visible alongside the app's source code releases.
